# Memory.

How do you reconnect your body and mind?
A poem studied by Denny K. Schuldt.

I hear the sobbing, but I don’t face it.
Her hands are moving on and off her face.
Something’s off in the other seat,
but my past froze me because once I was the same.

We take off and the rain starts,
she’s really hurting on the other side.
Memory. Being broken into a thousand parts,
altitude’s making us closer to this tide.

I dissect the moment but cannot feel it,
the volume’s low for my emotions.
It’s been months on CPR,
but nothing’s waking up this heart.

A mind that overthinks,
a body that under-feels.
Empathy’s present for her pain,
involuntary cold blood through my veins.

Time is timing in this flight,
she’s making peace with what’s behind.
“Prepare for landing” is announced,
I just hope for higher sound.
